About

Overview

Alicia (Hsing-I) Hsu is a senior partner at Dacheng Taiwan. She specializes in providing legal advice to companies at different stages of development. Her practice areas include startup fundraising, fundraising for mature enterprises and capital markets, various corporate commercial transactions, corporate governance-related legal matters, cross-border investments, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital funds, emerging technologies, energy and project finance, and intellectual property.

Drawing on many years of experience assisting business owners, Alicia is also skilled in personal and family wealth planning and succession. Her expertise includes will design and drafting, establishment and supervision of various types of trusts, structuring and implementation of family trust companies and closely held companies, estate division, cross-border inheritance, and other wealth planning matters.

As an experienced commercial lawyer, Alicia emphasizes that legal advice must be both commercially viable and strategic. Combined with her knowledge in finance, accounting, and taxation, she is able to provide clients with comprehensive business solutions, earning recognition from both domestic and international clients.

Before joining Dentons as a senior partner, Alicia served as General Counsel of Taiwania Capital, a national investment company often referred to as “Taiwan’s Temasek,” where she was the inaugural GC.

Alicia currently serves as an independent director of Formosa 2 Offshore Wind Power Co., Ltd. (the first operational offshore wind project in Taiwan’s Phase II development) and Horngyu (7869.tw).

In addition to her legal practice, Alicia is passionate about sharing her expertise through writing, public speaking, and media interviews. She frequently publishes articles on legal topics, particularly in business law, and has received widespread recognition. Her article on the “corporate secretary” was among the earliest discussions of the topic in Taiwan and was cited in the 2018 Company Act amendment task force report. She is also the author of the bestselling book “The Hardships You Shouldn’t Have to Endure in Entrepreneurship,” which is considered one of the best introductory books on business law in Taiwan.

Beyond her professional work, Alicia is committed to advocating for women’s rights in Taiwan. She currently serves as a board director of the Taipei Women’s Rescue Foundation and as a member of the Gender Equality Committee of the Taipei City Department of Labor, where she works to promote women’s rights and gender equality. Extending her advocacy, Alicia is also listed as an expert in the Ministry of Labor’s database of professionals qualified to investigate workplace sexual harassment.
